After a scoreless first half, the Eutectic women's soccer team fell 4-0 yesterday to the Lindenwood University-Belleville Lynx (7-5, 5-1 AMC) in an American Midwest Conference matchup in Belleville, Ill.
Despite a barrage of shots by the Lynx, the Eutectic defense held strong to keep the game scoreless through the first half. STLCOP goalkeeper Ashton Lindsley (FR/Troy, Mo.) made eight of her 12 saves in the first 45 minutes, frustrating the aggressive LUB offense.
20 minutes into the second half, Erika Lloyd found a hole in the Eutectic defense, scoring the first goal of the game for the Lynx. Using the momentum, the Lynx's Rebecca Joensson doubled the LUB score less than a minute later off an assist from Victoria Ikeda. Joensson was involved in the next two goals, assisting Sarah Garcia 10 minutes later, and scoring the final LUB goal just seven minutes before the end of the game.
The Lynx controlled the ball for much of the game, but the Eutectics' Blake Allison (SO/Boonville, Mo.) got one shot off late in the second half to force LUB goalkeeper Emma Sabath to make the save.
Ashton Lindsley continues to lead the conference in Saves per Game, ranked 13th nationally with an average of 9.14.
The Lady Eutectics, now 0-5-2 (0-4-2 AMC), will have more than a week to recover from Saturday's game before their next AMC matchup in Batesville, Ark., versus Lyon College (5-6, 2-4 AMC) at 4:30 p.m.
