The Eutectic men's soccer team dropped an American Midwest Conference matchup at Lindenwood University-Belleville (6-3-1, 3-2 AMC) on Saturday, 4-0.
The LUB Lynx got off to a quick start, scoring just after the six-minute mark, when Travis Drew headed in a corner kick from Rennan Perreria. Five minutes later, Pablo Mora scored for the Lynx, followed by Miliam Hysa's goal off an assist from Perreria at 18:10. The Lynx continued to control the ball throughout the rest of the first half, scoring once more before intermission, when Collin Dunn found the net off a pass from Drew.
The Lynx took 17 shots in the first half, and despite Eutectic goalkeeper Ethan Haege (FR/St. Libory, Ill.)'s five saves in the period, the Euts found themselves down 4-0 at intermission.
In the second half, the Eutectic defense held strong, successfully defending eight LUB shots to shut out the Lynx in the period. Nathan Petry (FR/O'Fallon, Ill.) took the only shot for the STLCOP squad early in the second half, banging one off the crossbar. Ethan Haege made three more saves in the second half to finish the game with a total of eight. He continues to lead the AMC in Saves per Game and ranks seventh in the NAIA, averaging 7.5.
The Eutectics, now 0-6-1 (0-5 AMC), will take a break from conference play, next heading across town to play the Concordia Seminary Preachers for an exhibition match on Friday, Oct. 11, at 5 p.m.
